Associating Hijra Calendar with Allah?
Why do Muslims associate the Hijra Calendar with Allah?
Allah’s judgement is swift and He does not subscribe to any calendar to judge our actions, whether it is good deeds or wrongful acts. Dates or months in the calendar do not weigh differently his judgement to all beings.
Allah’s Judgement is swift : |
2:202 They shall have (their) portion of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in reckoning.
6:62 Then are they restored unto Allah, their Lord, the Just. Surely His is the judgment. And He is the most swift of reckoners.
14:51 That Allah may repay each soul what it hath earned. Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning.

The Quran clearly rejects any ideas of judgement dependent of time, day or months. Time is only relative to humans, but not to the Lord of the Universe. The Quran had explicitly expressed that there shall be nothing be to associated with him, and this signification towards Allah, expressed in the Quran as Sha’ari Allah is defined as respecting the laws of Allah and not associating anything with Him.
Surah Al-Hajj 22:30 That ; and whoever respects sacred ordinance ( hurumati ) of Allah, it is better for him with his Lord; and the favours made lawful for you, except that which is recited to you, and therefore avoid the uncleanness of the idols and avoid false words,
22:31 Being upright for Allah, not associating aught with him and who ever associates (others) with Allah, it is as though he had fallen from on high, then the birds snatch him away or the wind carries him off to a far-distant place.
22:32 That ; and whoever magnifies the significance of Allah (sha’airi Allah ) then indeed it is from mindfulness of the hearts. |
The Quran is very clear in defining our relationship with Allah that there shall be nothing between us and Him. But Islamic traditions seem to be in contradiction with this simple relationship towards Allah. It seems there are many things associated with him that Muslims eventually ignored this conflict and accept them as a set of ritual ordain. As-Safa and Marwata in verse 2:158 had been clearly expressed as Sha’ari Allah in verse 22:30-32. But traditional translations tried to accommodate the small rock hills into the Quran by inserting the word “…are among…” instead of from/of – Arabic: min ).
2:158 Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah… (Yusuf Ali) |
